Memorable moments of wwe in 2015

WWE, being the undisputed global leader in entertainment has given us many memorable moments in the past to cherish. From the tear jerking Randy Savage – Ms. Elizabeth proposal to Brock Lesnar breaking The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania, the WWE Universe has witnessed numerous truly incredible moments which have been imprinted on their minds. 2015 wasn’t much different, with WWE once again delivering some nostalgic moments, captivating the WWE Universe.
Whether we talk about the memorable debut of Kevin Owens at the Elimination Chamber PPV where he defeated John Cena to cause arguably the biggest upset of the year, or Brock Lesnar tossing Roman Reigns around at WrestleMania, and coining the now famous “Suplex City” phrase, 2015 will go down as yet another memorable year. As we draw closer to bringing down the curtains on 2015, we look back at five memorable moments from the year.
Seth Rollins cashes in at WrestleMania
This year’s WrestleMania saw the birth of a new megastar, but going into the event, all eyes were on Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. With Roman winning this year’s Royal Rumble match, and considering the fact that Roman had been the only superstar to have held his own against the beast incarnate, the WWE Universe geared up to witness a match for the ages, with both the behemoths going at each other’s throats.
At WrestleMania, Lesnar took Roman Reigns to Suplex City, throwing the Samoan superstar like a rag doll. However, Roman got back into the match, holding his own against the most dominant superstar in the company. In the end however, after Lesnar caught Roman Reigns with an F – 5, Seth Rollins quickly made his way down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. Seth Rollins decked Roman Reigns with the Curb Stomp, and pinned the number one contender to become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion. As Michael Cole exclaimed, Seth Rollins got away with the heist of the century!
Beginning of the Divas Revolution
2015 also saw Nikki Bella dominate the divas division in the WWE. Meanwhile down at NXT, three women were making all the noise, putting on some incredible matches. Ric Flair’s daughter Charlotte, along with Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks were putting on great matches, and with Sasha Banks defeating Charlotte for the NXT women’s title, the WWE Universe made their voices heard about seeing the three women on the main roster.
This led to Stephanie McMahon acknowledging the crowd, and with athletes such as Ronda Rousey taking the sporting world by storm, Stephanie wanted to start a ‘Divas Revolution’ in WWE. Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks were then brought to the main roster, and the three divas made a huge impact almost immediately. Charlotte defeated Nikki Bella at the Night of Champions PPV for the WWE Divas title, ending her record run as the divas champion.
‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame
When we turn back the clock and look at some of the most charismatic superstars in WWE history, one name pops up in almost every list. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage was a once in a lifetime superstar, and his charisma, along with his unique personality made him one of the most likable superstars in the late 80s. However, his in – ring skills and his association with the first lady of professional wrestling – Ms. Elizabeth made him one of the most beloved superstars in the business.
Randy Savage had an incredible run in the company, winning the prestigious WWE Intercontinental championship, before becoming the WWE World Heavyweight champion. Randy was also involved in some of the most memorable moments in WWE history, and is also fondly remembered for his outstanding bout with Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3, which is widely considered to be one of the greatest WrestleMania matches in history.
Earlier this year, WWE announced Randy Savage as one of the inductees in the 2015 class of WWE Hall of Fame. His Mega Powers partner Hulk Hogan, who shared a rich history with Randy Savage inducted the Macho Man into the Hall of Fame, as the superstars and fans alike shed tears of joy, remembering one of the greatest superstars to have ever graced a wrestling ring.
Rock and Ronda Rousey confront The Authority at WrestleMania 31
WrestleMania 31 gave the WWE Universe many incredible moments, and during the show, The Authority made their way out to announce a new attendance record at the Levi’s stadium. With Triple H gloating about The Authority’s dominance, The Rock made a surprise appearance and tore into the duo verbally. However, Stephanie McMahon slapped “The People’s Champion”, while teasing him that he wouldn’t put his hands on a woman.
However, The Rock had other ideas, and invited one of the biggest and most dominant female athletes in the world, and a long time WWE fan – Ronda Rousey to the ring. Ronda, who was in attendance, made her way into the ring, and almost locked Stephanie McMahon in the devastating armbar submission. Ronda then hip tossed Triple H out of the ring, as The Authority high tailed to the back, leaving Ronda and The Rock standing tall, giving the WWE Universe yet another memorable WrestleMania moment.
Don't forget the fistbump!
Sting’s first WrestleMania appearance
During the same edition of WrestleMania, Triple H also faced one of the biggest names in the history of the business – the icon, Sting. During the Monday Night Wars back in the mid 90s, Sting was considered to be the face of WCW, and after WCW folded, The Stinger waited for over a decade before signing with WWE. This year’s WrestleMania saw the Stinger make his debut in a WWE ring, as the WWE Universe showed their appreciation, cheering the veteran on.
During the match, D Generation X made their way down to the ring to help Triple H, but the legendary New World Order faction came out to even the odds. However, Shawn Michaels interfered and dropped Sting with a super kick, costing the legendary superstar the match. Post match, the New World Order and D – X came face to face as the WWE Universe came unglued, and Triple H and Sting shook hands, showing mutual respect, which has gone down as one of the greatest moments in professional wrestling history.
